Asphalt concrete mix analysis using volcanic ash filler

چکیده

Abstract Asphalt mixture is a combination of aggregate and asphalt. Sinabung eruption volcanic ash produced many negative impact on health the environment. So that needs to be done in order study can used road pavement, especially Concrete purpose this determine effect comparison filler sinabung - Binder Course. This research was laboratory experimental nature with asphalt level variation 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, 7% 1, 2 3% each variation. There were 5 samples examination using marshall test instrument. The graph content value stability, flow, bulk density, VIM, VMA, VFB. results over all addition petroleum Course Marshall stability values indicate better showed very good. If flow lower, VIM getting then VMA VFB have more than minimum value.

Utilization of Recycled Asphalt Concrete with Warm Mix Asphalt and Cost-Benefit Analysis

The asphalt paving industries are faced with two major problems. These two important challenges are generated with an increase in demand for environmentally friendly paving mixtures and the problem of rapidly rising raw materials. Recycling of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is a critical necessity to save precious aggregates and reduce the use of costly bitumen. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technol...

Influence of Curing Age and Mix Composition on Compressive Strength of Volcanic Ash Blended Cement Laterized Concrete

This study investigates the influence of curing age and mix proportions on the compressive strength of volcanic ash (VA) blended cement laterized concrete. A total of 288 cubes of 100mm dimensions were cast and cured in water for 3, 7, 28, 56, 90 and 120 days of hydration with cement replacement by VA and sand replacement by laterite both ranging from 0 to 30% respectively while a control mix o...

Characterisation of Asphalt Concrete Using Nanoindentation

In this study, nanoindentation was conducted to extract the load-displacement behaviour and the nanomechanical properties of asphalt concrete across the mastic, matrix, and aggregate phases. Further, the performance of hydrated lime as an additive was assessed across the three phases. The hydrated lime containing samples have greater resistance to deformation in the mastic and matrix phases, in...

Forecasting volcanic ash deposition using HYSPLIT

A major source of error in forecasting where airborne volcanic ash will travel and land is the wind pattern above and around the volcano. GNS Science, in conjunction with MetService, is seeking to move its routine ash forecasts from using the ASHFALL program, which cannot allow for horizontal variations in the wind pattern, to HYSPLIT, which uses a full 4-D atmospheric model. This has required ...

Impact of Volcanic Ash on Road and Airfield Surface Skid Resistance

Volcanic ash deposited on paved surfaces during volcanic eruptions often compromises skid resistance, which is a major component of safety. We adopt the British pendulum test method in laboratory conditions to investigate the skid resistance of road asphalt and airfield concrete surfaces covered by volcanic ash sourced from various locations in New Zealand. Controlled variations in ash characte...
